Shower Valve Parts Have a Lifespan of 15 to 20 Years

The functional parts within the valve have a limited lifespan of about 15 to 20 years. Over time, wear and tear, plus the accumulation of particulates and hard water lime scale, cause parts to break, drip, leak, make handles difficult to turn, or otherwise not operate properly.

To ensure that your shower system works properly for your continued safe and enjoyable use, the manufacturer recommends servicing the valve every 15 years by replacing all the parts of the valve. This is s similar to replacing all the spark plugs of your car’s engine after driving it 60,000 miles and performing an engine tuneup. The engine of your shower system is the shower valve. The spark plugs are the cartridges and other installed parts.

By performing a full service on your shower valve, it will enable it to work properly and allow you to enjoy using the shower system for another 15 to 20 years.

No Need to Demolish Your Shower Tile

So, if your shower system is not working properly, you don’t have to replace the whole shower valve or entire shower system. Nor do you have to demolish the shower wall or destroy any of the existing tile. Just replace the parts within the valve.
